"President Andrew Jackson said that 'One man with courage makes a majority'. I am here to tell the City that I am that man!" - Phil Jennerjahn, in a speech to the Los Angeles City Council

Phil Jennerjahn in the NEWS

A short message to promote Phil Jennerjahn for US Congress in 2010 | California 33rd Congressional District.
  • TRANSPARENCY It is the ultimate sign of a free and Democratic nation that their leaders can operate in a very open and above-board manner when they have interactions with the voters. more
The recent leadership in Washington has decided to descend a shroud of secrecy over everything they do.
The President of the United States of America refuses to reveal personal information about himself, which is in startling contrast to the previous standards set by other former Presidents. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi holds closed door meetings and asks Members of Congress to vote on bills which are physically impossible to read before a vote on them is held.

Karen Bass is supported by all Washington leaders who behave this way. They are confident that they can count on her to continue this method of behavior.

If elected, I vow never to vote on legislation which I have not read or that I am not familiar with.
To behave otherwise is an insult to the voters of the 33rd Congressional District
  • HEALTHCARE Medical care is a service. The professionals who provide these services are talented people who have invested a great amount of their life to becoming qualified to work in this profession. more
Big Government Socialists like Karen Bass live in a fantasy world where they believe that everything should be "free". Free education, free housing, free healthcare, free money, etc.. This ideology doesn't work because people do not work for free.
51% of the population cannot continue to vote themselves benefits at the expense of the other 49% -- because the other 49% will eventually quit providing those benefits. Our society is about to face an "Atlas Shrugged" moment in the near future, where frustrated taxpayers and productive members of society go on strike and refuse to provide for those who produce nothing.

Why should talented doctors and nurses work for free? Would you?

The entire problem with health care is government interference in the free market. Only a few insurance providers are allowed in each state, due to the massive amount of political contributions those companies make to political candidates. If elected to Congress, I will work hard to change the McCarran-Ferguson Act and allow interstate competition in health insurance.

Free market competition will drive down health care costs.
Government meddling in the free market will increase costs and eventually bankrupt the country.

I support free market competition. Karen Bass favors more government regulation.

ISSUES & GOALS

  • THE ECONOMY The math here is very simple. If Karen Bass is elected to Congress, there is a 0% chance of an economic recovery here in Los Angeles. more
If Phil Jennerjahn is elected to Congress, there is a 100% chance of an economic recovery in Los Angeles. Karen Bass has already shown us her economic skills in Sacramento. As Speaker of the Assembly, she helped lead California into a unprecedented budget catastrophe. Thanks to her leadership, California is now over 40 BILLION dollars in the red. Her inability to understand simple math and finances is not a quality anyone should look for in an elected official.

Karen Bass is part of a bigger problem here in California. Socialist leaders who believe they can create success by legislation.
To them, financial realities are "not their problem". Their voting and spending are leading us down a very dark path.
There has NEVER in the history of the world, been a country that was successful because of government control of the economy. In fact, history has produced quite clear evidence to the contrary that economic growth, success and jobs come from the free flow of goods and services, and that type of growth is spurred by low taxation and low regulation.
  • JOBS Jobs are created by the entrepreneurial class, not by the government. This is not to say that government doesn't expand and employ more people -- that certainly is a fact -- but this expansion always comes with higher taxes and job losses in the private sector. more
The government cannot create jobs. The government can only create more government employees.
The higher taxes required to pay for those government employees salaries result in more businesses going out of business and more job losses.
As Speaker of the Assembly, Karen Bass oversaw one of the highest number of job losses suffered by any State in American history.
She did nothing to slow or stop this process.

If Karen Bass is elected, more businesses will close and more people in Los Angeles will lose their jobs.
  • BALANCED BUDGET I am in favor of balanced budgets. Right now, both the State and Federal government have out-of-control spending problems that are putting our nations future at risk. more
Massive inflation, disastrous job losses and debt default are potential scenarios for the current future. Karen Bass has shown in Sacramento that she will do nothing to stop out-of-control spending.
  • TAXES I am in favor of lower taxes for everyone. Lower taxes leave more money in the average persons pocket. more
More money usually turns these people into large consumers. They buy luxury items. They take exotic vacations. This money, pumped into the economy, creates more growth, more jobs, and more prosperity for everyone. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Higher taxes result in the average person having less spending power. Fear and uncertainty cause people to reduce their spending. Reduced spending takes money out of the economy. Companies struggle, and then fail, and have to lay off workers. Higher unemployment creates a higher misery index. Usually these economic situations result because of too much government interference in the marketplace.

Karen Bass has repeatedly shown through her actions that she is happy to raise taxes and misuse taxpayer money.

In the middle of one of the worst recessions in history, Karen Bass decided to give all her staffers in Sacramento a massive pay raise.
The voters, who paid for this pay raise, were competing in a very tough job market where these type of pay raises aren't happening.

Karen Bass arrogantly calls the tax money collected by the State "revenue". I call it "your money".
  • U.S. CONSTITUTION I am a strong defender of the Constitution of the United States of America. I believe in the words contained on those pages. more
Those words gave us freedom and , eventually, those words liberated hundreds of millions of humans from tyranny around the globe.
I share the faith of our founding fathers. They said what they meant, and they meant what they said. So do I.

As a Member of Congress, I will not vote for legislation that harms the Constitution.

Karen Bass has shown an utter disregard for the Constitution, and has repeatedly voted for policies that violate the Constitutional protections given to all American citizens.
